When both paid and unpaid work hours are added, aren’t men actually working slightly more total hours?

The opposite, actually! The Bureau of Labor Statistics suggest that on average, women spend slightly more time on paid + unpaid labor than men (https://usafacts.org/articles/how-do-men-and-women-use-time-differently/). But this is on a national level, and debating over "who's doing more" can be a losing battle for individual couples. That's why we think data are a good starting point to sharing your experience, but it isn't the be-all-end-all.

The data I saw was from Pew Research.
